Questions and Difficulties.

1. An objection to the Bible: The Gospels were not written until the 4th Century. They were written because the disciples had a political agenda. (a false accusation based on wrong information)

Answer:  Some modern day skeptics are using creative abilities to make a scenario that would lead us to believe that Constantine was the one who put the New Testament together under his rulership, and because of that the Scriptures would be unreliable. The truth of the matter is that the Gospels were already in use before that time and were written not too long after the events recorded in them took place.  The Scriptures give us understanding of what was going on during the time periods when they were written. When reading the books of the New Testament, we can tell that they were written before Jerusalem fell in AD 70 as they make no reference to the temple that was destroyed as being destroyed.

Difficulty #2-Jesus is not God, just the son of God

Answer: I hear this from different groups of people such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Mormons. I’m not sure what the point of that false doctrine would be or how it ties in with the other beliefs that they have. Perhaps they take pride in believing in something, other than that which is obvious, I don’t know. Anyway, this objection is not difficult to deal with if the opposing party is open for discussion. There are many places in the Bible that imply the deity of Christ. It is clear and not something even worth debating, except when a person has honest questions about this topic. An example of this would be in the gospel of Mark, when Jesus declares that a man is forgiven of his sin. Everyone their knew that only God can forgive sin. No question there. So was Jesus saying that He was God? I don’t know how anyone can read anything else. Another clear passage is found in John 8:58 in which Jesus was dealing with people who were arguing with Him, when He was explaining to them about sin, and why He had come. They thought of themselves as Abraham’s children (which they assumed made them righteous) and Jesus was showing them otherwise. Then He made this declaration about Himself; “Before Abraham was, I am”. In that sentence, it wasn’t a mistake or left out part of the sentence. He didn’t say, “I was there, or I was something or other “. There are no words after the word ‘am’. This is actually taken from the Old Testament verse in which Moses asks God “Who should I say sent me?” And God replied “Tell them, I am sent you”. The Jewish people Jesus was contending with knew exactly what Jesus was saying and accused Him of blasphemy because they knew He was saying that He was God. There are other places in the Bible that explain more on this. Please leave any thoughts, insights or comments you might have.

What is the best way to explain to a Muslim the deity of Christ? We are answering a man’s questions as best as we know how. He asks about how Jesus is the Prophet that was like Moses, when all the other prophets seems to be like Moses too. How do you answer a person with these questions?
